Whether you want to take the whole family out or sip on some fancy cocktails with your well-behaved four-legged companion, we’ve found places sure to please you and your pet. From restaurants for the whole family to bars and coffee shops, San Antonio is sure to have a place for you and your furry companion. Just make sure you leash your pets, clean up after them and remember that most locations only allow pets in their outdoor patio areas.

Take the Family Out To ...

Your family and your dog can kick back and relax at The Luxury. For the adults, there are extensive beer and wine menus to choose from. The Luxury is moderately priced, so you won’t break the bank after having some brews. Sit back, relax and grab a couple beers or glasses of wine while munching on some of the best fries in San Antonio. Your family and your furry companion can gaze out at the Riverwalk and enjoy the summer sun. Fair warning: It’s a good idea to bring sunblock.

The Hoppy Monk has a beer and cocktails for everyone. Your dog can rejoice in the sun on the spacious outdoor patio while you drink. Dough’s pizza is famous in SA and for good reason — even your dog will be begging for a bite of the savory crust. The restaurant also offers an extensive wine list. Also, you get a 10-percent discount when you bring your pet along. That’s something to toast about. Following dinner and drinks, take the dog over to Phil Hardberger Park a couple of miles up on Blanco and burn off some off those calories. The park has a large, enclosed play area for dogs.

Ocho’s small but quaint patio has one of the best views of the river, and it’s pet-friendly. Located along the North Riverwalk and part of Hotel Havana, the pan-Latin-influenced restaurant is the perfect place to go on a date and bring your pet along. The Havana Bar is located downstairs from Ocho, where your date can grab you a cocktail so you and your pet can enjoy the patio upstairs.

After having a few cocktails at Ocho, take a walk along the river and take in the beauty of San Antonio. Your pooch will thank you for it.

Nothing goes better together than a great cup of coffee and quality time with your pet. At Candlelight Coffee House, visitors are welcome to sit on the outside patio and enjoy the breeze with their four-legged friend. There’s a side gate entrance for pet owners. When you go inside, there are spaces to tie your pet’s leash.

Pet owners with more adventurous and outdoorsy spirits can check out one of the many dog parks scattered throughout San Antonio. Seven of the parks allow pets to be off their leashes and there are locations designated specifically for small and large dogs. Some even include play equipment and water fountains designed with your furry friend in mind.
