"Homegrown: Austin Music Posters, 1967-1982"
The Wittliff Collections at Texas State University hosts a reception, book signing and panel discussion (moderated by cultural historian Jason Mellard) in conjunction with “Homegrown,” an exhibition exploring the role poster designers played in defining Austin’s underground culture. Compiling more than 140 vintage posters, “Homegrown” illustrates a variety of styles — from the psychedelic art of the Vulcan Gas Company to the radical aesthetic of punk — through the eyes of such renowned artists as Gilbert Shelton, Kerry Awn and Micael Priest.
Free, but RSVP requested at [email protected], 2pm Sun, The Wittliff Collections, Alkek Library, Texas State University, 601 University Dr., San Marcos, (512) 245-2313, thewittliffcollections.txstate.edu.
