Dirty Dancing

“Nobody puts Baby in a corner. I carried a watermelon. You gotta hold the frame. I’ve never seen the movie Dirty Dancing, I just picked three quotes at random from the IMDB page to try to impress you.” From now until November 9, if you’ve got you’re eye on a cutie who came of age in the mid-to-late ’80s, those four sentences are practically guaranteed to get you a date. If nothing else, your intended will accompany you to the national touring production of the musical version of Dirty Dancing just because it seems to bug the hell out of Gen-Xers if anyone anywhere hasn’t seen the movie. $35-$100, Tuesday, November 4 through Sunday, November 9 (check box office for performance times), Majestic Theatre, 224 E. Houston (210) 226-3333, majesticempire.com —Jeremy Martin

Much of alternative music nowadays pays homage to The Psychedelic Furs. Led by vocalist and songwriter Richard Butler, and his basist brother Tim, the Furs won over fans and critics alike by combining poetic lyrics, innovative rhythms and melodies driven by an aggressive, punk desperation. Evan Dando formed The Lemonheads with two high school buddies in late winter '86, in their senior year at Boston's tiny Commonwealth School. A few months later, they spawned what is now one of the most sought-after punk relics of the 80s.The Lemonheads' popularity grew in the 90s with the major label albums. $29.50, 8 p.m. Wednesday, The Majestic Theatre, 224 E. Houston (210) 226-3333, majesticempire.com
