Protesting the arrests of 177 bikers in mid-May, including many who are still behind bars on million-dollar bail, hundreds of motorcyclists revved their engines in Waco Sunday afternoon.
The rally, dubbed All for 1, was an effort to protest the Waco Police Department and the county's judges.
"The Waco PD and other agencies involved has slandered every Biker in the state of Texas as gang members and criminals repeatedly. They've slander our charity work as if its a front for gangs. So say that to the people in need!," the group says on its Facebook page.
On May 17, during a motorcycle meeting at Twin Peaks restaurant in Waco, police opened fire into a crowd of bikers after they reported that the motorcyclists were shooting at each other, as well as at police. Nine people were killed and 18 were injured.
The Waco Tribune reports that of the 177 people who received $1 million bail, it's been reduced for 50 who have since gotten out of jail.
The newspaper reports that a McLennan County prosecutor during a Friday bond hearing said the county has video evidence of the shootout, including "executions" committed by rival bikers. However, none of that video has been released or used to release people not involved, according to the Waco Tribune.
“It’s real simple. Go through the video, pull out everyone that wasn’t involved that day, and send them home without bond,” John Duncan, of Waco, told the newspaper. “They have the evidence in hand. That’s what gets me.”
