Better Butter is a live show that features a multicultural ensemble and a continuously changing “play-list” of original and true stories, experiences and cathartic points of view performed onstage in one hour (mas o menos) in hopes of building stronger human connections. New ensemble members include Maddie Ramos and Marcus McEvoy with OGs – Gio Lugo, Sarah Tijerina, Joyous Windrider Jiménez and show creator Clint Taylor, plus technical director Madison Cardenas and stage manager Bree Rubio. This collection of work stitches together Louisiana imagery with domestic lesbian life. Alex uses iconography such as catfish, gas stations, ‘gators, and baptist themes to allow her to converse about the Southern lesbian experience in a way that refuses to demonize the South as a whole. Monday, April 15, 2024 is the kickoff of the MEGA CORAZÓN celebration, an online spoken word marathon that is part of San Antonio’s National Poetry Month participation. This festival presents San Antonio’s poetic tradition that combines street, classical, and slam performance styles in a production that is improvisational, at times painful, and choreographed for a highly visual impact. The Art and Art History Department at Trinity University presents Processing, an exhibition by Senior Art Majors Ayden Bartsch, Piper Foster, Jacob Iverson, Michaela Judis, Jaeden Morgan, Pedro Ordoñez Acosta, and Dawson Polovina. The exhibition includes photography, painting, and drawing. Together, the works depict a desire for creative experimentation and reflection, while highlighting the unique process of each artist. “Uprooting” depicts a cumulus of experiences and life occurrences that continuously steer the personal path toward eventful situations that modify the perception of the self. The group exhibition Water Ways brings together works that make direct reference to water in addition to those that refer symbolically to it. Here, artists picture swimmers, capture moonlit lakes, re-create a shimmering pool, map unknown watercourses, or depict mythic tales associated with oceans or rivers. These works are balanced by others that allude to or characterize water like bridges, boats, borders, depth, fluidity, motion, purification, reflection, source, and its alterable state.
