Barbacoa grilled cheese sandwiches are back as Barrio Barista reopened its doors this past weekend.
The West Side coffee shop was first opened in 2014 by Gilberto De Hoyos and sons Brian and Gilbert to keep the area caffeinated with beans by local roaster What's Brewing. After being closed for 100 days, the De Hoyos
Barrio Barista gained followers after opening because of their chill atmosphere, horchata lattes, and addictive barbacoa grilled cheese. The shop also served as a community gathering space and hosted open mics on Wednesdays for poetry night.
