If you’re only familiar with Jay Mohr the comedian and not Jay Mohr the actor, at least know about his best cinematic role. Mohr was the two-faced sports agent who fired Tom Cruise in 1996’s Jerry Maguire, a move that sent the title character into a downward spiral and forced him to reevaluate his life. Without Mohr, there wouldn’t be a “You had me at hello” or “Show me the money!”
While Mohr was never able to top the success of that particular film, he has been keeping busy over the last 20 years. These days, he hosts his own podcast, Mohr Stories with Jay Mohr, where he talks about everything under the sun, interviews special guests and answers emails from fans. He even finds time on the show to peddle sponsorship underwear using his famous Christopher Walken impersonation.
Then, of course, there’s his stand-up, which the ex-Saturday Night Live cast member has been doing since he was a teenager. He’s also a huge sports buff, so, if you go to one of his performances this weekend, ask him how he thinks the Spurs will do this season.
