Tucker's Kozy Korner is currently closed, but the East Side institution won't be down for long.

New operators, Andrew Lake and Nathan Azar, have taken over the space that first opened in 1948 as a burger and hot dog joint. After a year-long tenure by its previous owners, the longtime bar is undergoing more renovations and updates.

Lake and Azar shared the news via press release, along with information on the addition of new general manager Adrian Sarabia, who first shared the news via social media last week. Sarabia is no stranger to the bar world: he's worked the wells at The Esquire Tavern, Blue Box, Paramour, and New Braunfels' The Downtowner.

Lake shared plans for the space include trying to preserve the appeal of Tucker's as an institution, while adding more food events and programming such as block parties.

"We want to keep the experience as close as possible to preserve legacy of that site," Lake said.

Tucker's Kozy Korner will aim for an early December re-opening.
