Strap on those bullet belts, S.A.

South Texas Legion, the metal supergroup assembled to play the South Texas Popular Culture Center (TexPop)'s "Metal Mayhem" exhibit this spring, is set take to the stage again. This time, the day before Thanksgiving.

A virtual Who's Who of musicians who helped make San Antonio the "Heavy Metal Capital of the World" during the '80s, STL will play an extended set drawn from its members' original bands. The lineup includes:
  • Chip Alexander, drummer for Karion and Militia
  • Bob Catlin, guitarist for S.A. Slayer and Juggernaut
  • Bobby Jarzombek, drummer for Fate's Warning and Juggernaut
  • Jason McMaster, vocalist for Watchtower and Dangerous Toys
  • James Rivera, vocalist for Helstar
  • Mike Soliz, vocalist for Militia
  • Art Villarreal, guitarist for S.A. Slayer and Karion
  • Scott Womack, bassist for Juggernaut
Just in case you're not old enough to recognize those band names, know this — STL was tapped to play Germany's Keep It True Festival next spring based on the coolness of that lineage.

Word is a few guests will also make appearances at the November gig, so who knows what other headbangers of yore may drop in.

Beware! (Screeched in 1981-style falsetto.)
