Probably best known for securing the intro music for the beloved show making fun of hipsterdom Portlandia, Washed Out has weirdly become iconic for this generation of millennials.

Former Current music editor Matt Stieb explained this idea really well a few years back Washed Out headlined Maverick Music Festival:

“Oddly enough, Washed Out has not only eclipsed the genre of chillwave, it's become a touchstone act for the millennial generation in the way that Steely Dan is a zeitgeist artist for dads of millennials. And much like Steely Dan, Washed Out totally rules, though with serious potential to sound dated in twenty years. With Phil Collins-meets-hip-hop drum fills and synth textures like rolling surf, Ernest Greene's Washed Out took Maverick on a weed-smoke journey through chillwave and beyond.”

Washed Out returns to San Antonio on Thursday, December 27 for a performance at Paper Tiger, and you’ll most likely see us there ready to party.
