Just moments ago the Senate voted down resolution S. J. Res. 6
. The partisan "resolution of disapproval
" was a sneak attack on Internet freedoms sponsored by Sen. Kay Hutchison [R-TX]
, and spearheaded by industry-funded members of Congress. The resolution would've given Internet providers unrestricted power, and the ability to strip online privacy protections. It was also predicted, if passed, to create barriers to access and audiences already faced by many in broadcasting and print media.
This is a historical victory for musicians
, for historically marginalized communities, and consumers nationwide.
