Painting of La Presy by Zaafra (David González López)
La Presy (born Priscilla Treviño Lozano, 1952-2011) left San Antonio 33 years ago and became a well-respected flamenco teacher in Granada, the heart and breeding ground of gypsy Spain. Two of her top students are now showing the fruits of what they learned with La Presy. In 2012, Lara Bello released Primero amarillo, después malva, a gorgeous Latin jazz-pop/World music album entirely dedicated to her.
Here's a live rendition of another song included in the album:
The other student of La Presy shining on her own is Patricia Guerrero, first dancer of the Ballet Flamenco Andaluz, and one of Spain's top young flamenco dancers. You can see La Presy (beige pants, white shirt, and black vest) and an 8-year-old Patricia Guerrero in this 1998 video, taken somewhere in Granada:
And this is Patricia Guerrero in 2010:
Patricia Guerrero, who studied with La Presy between ages 8 to 11. She's now one of Spain's top young dancers.
