You can learn more about single malt Scotch this Wednesday, September 4 if you have $1,500 around. Don Marsh over at Bar 1919 (1420 S Alamo) will host a very exclusive and intimate tasting of one of 185, 50-year single malt Scotch whiskies ever made by Glenfiddich. Fifty bottles were released this year and only six have made it over to the States.
Marsh, a Scotch aficionado who's been in the business for 23 years, received the $25,000 bottle (which comes inside a locked case) last week.
"It's locked up in a very safe place," he said.
The $1,500 per person tasting will include a 30 year 1974 vintage along with other rare single malts and a five-course dinner prepared by Feast chef, Stefan Bowers. Glenfiddich Ambassador, David Allardice will play host. As of Tuesday night, nine people had RSVPed for the tasting, but call 210-227-1420 in case they can squeeze in an extra guest.
