Flesh Suspends on Hays Street Bridge

Third Eye Flesh Suspension held a session on the Hays Bridge last Saturday night. The San Antonio – Austin collective were breaking in an new steel rig, a gift from Tom Moore of SteelFetish. They picked the bridge location in order to “get some height, skyline, and be in close proximity to coffee,” so they note in their blog.

This video shows the whole process that experienced suspender Chris Clark undertakes. It something else to see, especially when his baby daughter enters the scene. Somehow, harrowing turns serene. With the bridge, the skyline, the cradling, the swaying, you forget his flesh is hooked. He's just sharing a special moment.   Mary Adair also suspended that night, and writes about her experience “learning to fly.”

My experience with human suspension has never been an escape; it has been a way to show me that I am stronger than I have ever believed I could be. It does not make me tougher than anyone else, because my suspensions are not about anyone else. They are about finding true calm and peace within myself. After I come back down from my journey, time moves at an accelerated rate. Within what appears to be seconds, the hooks no longer find shelter in my skin, and are replaced with bandages. The calm still remains even without their bittersweet kiss.

If this is something you want to pursue, you can reach the collective through their website.
