San Antonians eager for the opening of Earth Burger (722 NW Loop 410) can start putting their money where their mouth is. The fast-food burger place was finally approved for a Kickstarter campaign. The goal is to raise $40,000 by April 29. Earth Burger is brought to you by the team behind Green Vegetarian Cuisine, which hopes to spread healthy eating to the drive-thru set with a variety of burgers, wraps, healthy sides (kale salad, hummus) and a kid's menu at comparable prices to their meaty competitors. Read more about the project here. Individuals interested in backing the project can back the project by donating anywhere from $10 (which gives you a high ten and a shout out) to $10,000 (which would help ensure the kitchen stays kosher). The campaign currently sits at close to $6,000 with the help of 70 backers. If they meet their goal, Earth Burger will be the first SA eatery to do so. Mixtli tried for a rooftop garden and Cockasian tried to recruit "founding members." The team held a media tasting Monday, March 3 where diners sampled the menu of burgers (the fish burger was a personal favorite, but the bean burger was also good), wraps (that used a new kale salad recipe) and sides (a kalamata olive hummus proved pretty tasty). Earth Burger will continue to showcase the menu with a series of previews and pop-ups: Tuesday, April 8, 6 p.m.: Full Menu Tasting (come with an empty stomach) for $225 Kickstarter Early Bird Backers at the Culinary Institute of America.
Wednesday, April 9, 7 p.m.: Earth Burger Pop-Up at Green Vegetarian Cuisine's Alon Marketplace location.
Sunday, April 13, 10 a.m.: Southtown Yoga Lofts Preview Tasting
