Willie Nelson's '80s Tour Bus Up For Sale on Craigslist

via Craigslist

An old tour bus of Willie Nelson’s is up for sale on Craigslist, and you can own it for a cool $29,999 in cash. Alan Vidovic is not the owner (an introvert inundated with media requests from the likes of Rolling Stone, of course), but he is the one selling this 1983 Eagle Bus out of Tyler, Texas. According to Vidovic, the owner purchased a haggard version on eBay and then went to town restoring it to its former glory. And man, what a beauty. With red velvet seats, satiny curtains, stained glass windows and varnished cherry wood, it’s a time capsule of 1980s country glam, flush with sex, pot, and incense.

Now, 1983 was the year Willie Nelson, age 50, headlined the US Festival -- think SXSW of the ‘80s.* And around this time, he had joined the Highwaymen, a collaboration with Johnny Cash, Kris Kristofferson, and Waylon Jennings. And, it was 1985 when Nelson recorded “We Are the World,” when Kenny Rogers still looked like Kenny Rogers, and Michael Jackson was Michael, alive and healthy.

Vidovic confirms that the bus is in great condition and fully functioning with four, yes four, A/C units. It can sleep about eight people, “depending the situation.” So for 30 grand, you can take this beauty on the road again, just steer clear of the border crossings if you light up. Me, I’d park it and move in, cuz “still is still moving to me.”

(* The US Festival was a music festival sponsored by Steve Wozniak, around the time he joined Apple, to celebrate evolving technologies of music, computers, and video.)
