ARTIFACTS

By the time this column goes to print the official lineup for March 15’s Luminaria Arts Night may have been announced (check out luminariasa.com) — but these past few suspenseful weeks have allowed me to hone my investigative skills and find out, on my own, who will be participating. And let me tell you, you won’t be disappointed (Well maybe a little, I mean who in their right mind schedules an event to go up against SXSW?! If it weren’t for my hardcore dedication to my job `no this is not a ploy to get a raise, loyal readers` I would be in ATX listening to The Soundtrack of our Lives, Nada Surf, or The Stills.)

I won’t shed a tear, though. So far, we’ve heard that the Ballet Conservatory of San Antonio, D.C. Bloom, The Truth Musiq Movement, and Roger Velasquez will be performing. Also, the San Antonio Museum of Art and a few other galleries are extending their hours to 10 p.m.

I’m also excited about Refarm Spectacle, a collaboration between artist Jen Khoshbin and philosopher Paul Lewis. It’ll be the second in a series of book projects that features carved books “lost” on the sidewalks and alleyways of Houston Street during the event. I’m so intrigued.
