CRITICAL Darling

Not that you needed Critical Darling to tell you, but The Dark Knight opens this weekend. (Nikki Finke’s sources are actually suggesting that it “will make less than Iron Man. Cute.) And no, you won’t find a review in the rag you’re presently holding, because the studio didn’t screen early for us, and you think we’re, what, like, going to pick up and run some dimwitted non-local dude/tte’s opinion on what will probably be the most rad film of the summer? Right.

(Mamma Mia!? Well, sure. But that critic’s clearly no dimwit.)

However, DK is screening early enough for us to get our thoughts onto the Curblog by opening day (cough, thanks to our promotional screening on Wednesday, cough), so lookout. (Somethin’ more polished-like’ll run in next week’s issue.)

Finally, remember that weird call-for-entries in CD a few weeks ago? (You know, the column wherein I misspelled “existing” and told you to live dangerously? Sigh.) Well, the veil has been lifted. We want your mock-docs for a special Get Reel presentation at the McNay, slated for October. Remember, these don’t have to be representative of the Talking Head, Christopher Guest-style of mockumentary filmmaking. Derivatives are welcome. XO.
