If you’re never able to make it out to the Pearl Farmer’s Market on Saturday mornings, you’ll soon have a Sunday option a short jump up 281 North. The Quarry Farmers and Ranchers Market is set to open May 1 in the parking lot by Whole Foods. Like the Pearl market, the Quarry promises live music, seminars, and cooking demos in addition to the food. They also plan on staying open year-round, rain or shine.
Another way to indulge in Sunday is with an elaborate brunch — a sit-down where the best sugary and eggy parts of breakfast bleed into the meat and grease of a large, satisfying lunch. Francesca’s at Sunset at the Westin La Cantera is now offering brunch on Sundays. The fare is upscale, but the prices aren’t as expensive as one might expect from Francesca’s. There are lots of large plates with poached eggs, cream, and decadent meats, and more than a few variations on mimosas and Bloody Marys. It’s an intense, delicious brunch that could require a nap afterwards — perfect for a post-Fiesta Sunday.
