Ivy R. Taylor (incumbent)

Bio: Incumbent Ivy R. Taylor began her career working for the City of San Antonio in the Housing and Community Development Department and the Neighborhood Action Department. She has worked with various nonprofit organizations that focus on inner city redevelopment and children, education, health, and financial literacy programs. She has served on the City’s Planning Commission and as a commissioner for the San Antonio Development Agency (SADA). A Haven for Hope board member, Taylor has also been dubbed a “Rising Star” in the San Antonio Business Journal’s top 40 under 40 list. Taylor has a Master’s Degree in City and Regional Planning from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a Bachelor’s Degree from Yale University, and now lectures in UTSA’s Public Administration Department.

Darrell Boyce

Bio: Darrell Boyce, Sam Houston High graduate, helped found the Bi-Cultural Organization for Leadership Development (B.O.L.D), a group that fought alcohol and tobacco billboard ads in D2. The organization was later awarded $200,000 from the billboard agencies to put up positive messages. Boyce has also worked with of the association for Progressive Nonprofits, organizing local G.E.D programs. He organized the first “No More” march to stop violence in D2 and is an HIV prevention coordinator with San Antonio Fighting Back.
