A La Mode Gelato Sets May 21 Opening Date

There's more gelato coming our way this summer. A La Mode Gelato, which began operating as a booth at the Quarry Farmers & Ranchers Market, will open at 1420 S. Alamo in the Blue Star Arts Complex on Thursday, May 21 at 5 p.m.

Owned and managed by husband-and-wife team Josh Biffle and Diletta Gallorini, A La Mode will serve 16 gelato and non-dairy sorbettos, espresso drinks, pastries from Bakery Lorraine, salumi boards (!) and panini. 

Operating hours will run 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 9 a.m. to midnight on Friday and Saturday. 

Biffle, a native Texan, learned how to make gelato in Italy while studying abroad. He introduced a slew of rotating flavors while at the market, including ricotta and blackberry, Madagascar bean and bourbon, salted caramel and Belgian dark chocolate among others, while earning a strong following.
