14 LGBT Events To Attend During Gay Pride Month

June ushers in the Month of Pride for the LGBTQ community and San Antonio’s Historic Market Square escorts the that community promptly into a Pride-filled summer with their Family Pride Fair this weekend.

Saturday, June 6: Historic Market Square will host the Family Pride Fair. Pride Center of San Antonio encourages everyone to bring their families and learn in a relaxed and festive atmosphere, about LGBT programs and services available in the community. You also won’t want to miss the San Antonio Public Library’s (SAPL) celebration of Pride Month. SAPL will host several panels which are filled with educational material for everyone.  

Wednesday, June 10 & Saturday, June 27: Rock OUT, many LGBTI musicians call San Antonio home. Celebrate our Pride with a performance by Alyson D. Alonzo and other LGBTI artists at the library. Wednesday, June 10: Work OUT, recruiting for diversity in the workplace doesn’t just create a more open environment; it has multiple bottom-line benefits for businesses. Coming together as business leaders, entrepreneurs and community allies for the fair treatment of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) people is crucial to economic competitiveness. Monday, June 15: Break OUT, the panel discussion will focus on the transgender “coming out” process. The primary topic will speak on access to healthcare and economic factors that could effect the transgender process. The program will start with a film entitled “The T Is No Longer Silent,” followed by a panel discussion with the filmmaker Keith Wichinski, a local area health provider. Additionally, San Antonio will hold several Pride events throughout the month. 

Sunday, June 7 & June 14: Pride San Antonio will finish up their LGBTQ softball season over the next couple of weekends. Teams like the 'Brokebat Mountain' and 'Looking to Score' will face off in the playoffs. All games are open to the public. Friday, June 12: The Uptown Studio brings together local, LGBTQ artists for the Queers-N-Beers party. The event includes a night of music and art aimed to unite and inform the community. Saturday, June 27: San Antonio AIDS Foundation will be honoring the month as well as National HIV Testing Day by offering free testing at the Get Tested, Get Wet Pool Party. The Friendly Spot (943 S. Alamo St) will host one half of the party offering free testing  from 1 to 5 pm. The pool party  will be in the Tobin Hill neighborhood (421 Howard St) from 4 to 8 pm. The only catch...
