San Antonio chefs are are taking a pilgrimage to Dallas for the first annual Park and Palate, a weekend fundraising effort for Klyde Warren Park

The event will showcase Texas' premiere wine and culinary scene, popular chefs, breweries and more to help raise awareness for the Woodall Rodgers Park Foundation which serves to provide free programs and entertainment for the public.

The two-day event will start Friday, September 25, with its "Down the Roots" competition, where twelve of the states best chefs will compete to create the perfect twist on comfort food for event goers and a panel of expert judges, including television personality Amanda Freitag, a frequent judge on the Food Network show "Chopped." Among the contenders in the SA corner are Jason Dady of The Jason Dady Restaurant Group and Jeff Balfour of Southerleigh

The event will conclude on Saturday, September 26, with the Grand Tasting, where over 30 Texas chefs and 30 wineries will provide live cooking demonstrations, tastings and book signings. Did I mention there's an open bar, too?
