Just three days after a horrific attack on Paris, France, by members of the barbaric Islamic State, or ISIS, Texas Governor Greg Abbott felt it was necessary to send a letter to President Barack Obama, saying the Lone Star State wouldn't accept any refugees from Syria.

And just to be abundantly clear, the refugees in Syria are fleeing ISIS and its brutality. Between ISIS and Syria's regime forces, more than 200,000 people have been killed and another 4 million have fled their homes, according to a report in The New York Times.

Rather than embrace the obvious sympathy for not only victims in France — and around the world, including Beirut, the scene of another heinous ISIS attack, and Syria — Abbott decided to play politics.

"Given the tragic attack in Paris and the threats we have already seen in Texas, coupled with the FBI director's acknowledgment that we do not have the information necessary to effectively vet Syrian nationals, Texas cannot participate in any program that will result in Syrian refugees - any one of whom could be connected to terrorism - being resettled in Texas," Abbott wrote.

Abbott ordered the Texas Health & Human Services Commission's Refugee Resettlement Program not to participate in resettling Syrian refugees in the Lone Star State.

And, of course, the governor demonstrated his xenophobic tendencies.

"And I urge you, as president to halt your plans to allow Syrians to be resettled anywhere in the United States. Neither you nor any federal official can guarantee that Syrian refugees will not be part of any terroristic activity. As such, opening our door to them irresponsibly exposes our fellow Americans to unacceptable peril," Abbott wrote.

One of the attackers in Paris was a Syrian refugee, so this why Abbott doesn't want to help any war refugees. And since there has been an unsuccessful attack in Texas by ISIS sympathizers, the governor would rather Texans live in fear of ISIS by not assisting any of the terrorist organization or regime's victims.
