If the boozy, sophisticated cocktails at Brooklynite were a local music group, there's a good chance they would play jazz. The lounge atmosphere of the bar, though it's played host to cowabunga badasses King Pelican on its Tiki Tuesday, is perfect for reclining in the corner and partaking in the dapper doings of a distinguished jazz band, letting the booze and the blues take over. Or, just enjoying some top notch tinctures with friends and escaping the Top 40 grind of the average bar.

Coincidentally, local jazz legend Jim Cullum will be playing the bar at 516 Brooklyn tomorrow (Thursday), starting at 9 p.m. This is a great opportunity to get a little holiday spirit in your glass and your ear, and the renowned barkeeps and the Jim Cullum band are perfect gatekeepers to the sunny side of the glass and the brass.
