Can you imagine what they'll find when they drain the River Walk?

Starting today, through January 9, the Center City Development & Operations and the Transportation and Capital Improvements departments drain the world-famous tourist attraction.

We take this job very seriously. Maintenance is critical to the upkeep of the River Walk so that it will be a beautiful and pleasant place when visitors and locals alike walk along the river, sit at a riverside restaurant or take a ride on a river barge.

In January 2010 and 2011, workers removed more than 6,000 cubic yards of sediment from the river.

The San Antonio River Authority will be draining a portion of the San Antonio River by the Museum Reach for preventative maintenance on the Lock and Dam close to Brooklyn Avenue.
