Brass Monkey, the N. St. Mary's dance club will be hosting an all-Bowie bash in honor of the androgynous lad insane. DJ DC and DJ Eddie will be spinning tracks from the man who (maybe) fucked and (definitely) fought Lou Reed, married an African supermodel, and is set to release his twenty-fifth studio album, ★, on Friday, January 8, his 69th birthday. The party is free and will begin at 10pm.
If you would like to celebrate the thin white Duke's b-day with a more family-oriented event – although Bowie's codpiece in Labyrinth is downright terrifying – the Tobin Center for Performing Arts will be screening the Bowie/Jennifer Connelly tale of a babe. What babe? The babe with the power. What power? The power of voodoo. The movie is free, begins at 8pm and promises to be most hunky dory.
