Obstructionist Republicans across the country are already lashing out at President Barack Obama's nomination to the Supreme Court.
The White House announced today that the president nominates Merrick B. Garland, who is the Chief Judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals in Washington D.C., to replace the late Antonin Scalia.
Merrick was confirmed to his current position in 1997 with bipartisan support.
Times have changed and Republicans have vowed to pay no attention to anyone Obama nominates, arguing that America's next president should pick the nominee.
Naturally, Governor Greg Abbott, who wants to hold a Constitutional Convention to rewrite the Constitution, a leader who made his name suing the federal government, is not pleased and claims the Supreme Court and the United States are at a Constitutional tipping point.
It is essential that the Supreme Court vacancy be filled with a true Constitutionalist in the form of Justice Scalia. Americans have grown concerned about the role of the Supreme Court in America today, and because this is one of the pivotal issues in the current presidential election, Americans should have the opportunity to vote for a president who will fill this vacancy.That's what they say now.
