Revisit the hangovers and headaches of San Antonio Beer Week by celebrating American Craft Beer Week next week.

The Brewers Association and craftbeer.com are the masterminds behind the week-long event. “Beer weeks celebrate the culture and community of craft beer, and give breweries and beer businesses the opportunity to connect with the fans,” according to craftbeer.com

Flying Saucer (11255 Huebner Road, Suite 212, 210-696-5080) has more than 200 craft beers on deck and will celebrate the week by partnering with several breweries from May 15 to 20. The pub participated in San Antonio Beer Week a few weeks ago but will “feature big names in American brewery next week,” according to manager Claire Altree.

On Sunday, Flying Saucer will kickoff the week with Goliad Brewing, Independence Brewing Co., Pedernales Brewing Co. and Ranger Creek Brewery & Distilling. Beer samples will be offered, along with “free swag” (free merchandise) from 2 p.m.-5 p.m. and a raffle at 4 p.m.

Monday, brewers from Breckenridge Brewery and Harpoon Brewery will join Flying Saucer.

Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. and Oskar Blues Brewery will sell featured beers on Tuesday beginning at 5 p.m.

Real Ale Brewing Co. brewers will visit Flying Saucer on Wednesday, with stories and five special brews at 6 p.m. Every 30 minutes, the brewery will enlighten the audience with a narrative detailing how each brew was crafted.

On Thursday, Left Hand Brewing and Goose Island Beer Co. will serve their unique beers beginning at 5 p.m. According to manager Altree, the emporium features a rare tap on Thursday.

Friday, Avery Brewing Co. and Clown Shoes Brewery will sell beers beginning at 5 p.m. If you can’t make it to Flying Saucer every day next week, Altree says Wednesday and Friday will be the highlights of the week.

Allow American Craft Beer Week to serve as an indicator for how you will stomach the rest of the summer. Set those Budweisers and Coronas aside and opt to support American breweries.
