Sometimes, great lengths must be taken to get a point across. Some are unwilling to go the distance needed to fully express their argument. Phillip Wellman is not among them.
When Missions shortstop Nelson Ward was called out at second base last night in a game against the Northwest Arkansas Naturals (aren't minor league baseball names the best?), Wellman didn't agree with the call. And he let the umpires know about it. Watch the video below:
Of course, this isn't the first time that Wellman has demonstrably lost his cool while arguing with an umpire. In fact, he might hold the championship belt for greatest minor league manager explosion of all-time.
In 2007, Wellman threw a tantrum while managing the Chattanooga Lookouts that made Thursday night's display look tame. Complete with building a sandcastle on home plate and a fake grenade toss, it must be seen to be believed:
Never change, Phillip. We need guys like you out there.
Oh, and the Missions won the game, 3-1.
