Sure, mariachis and their music are nothing new to us in San Antonio. Whether you're enjoying pan dulce or a margarita (or four) at Mi Tierra, strolling along the River Walk or throwing a quince for your prima, the sounds of the trumpets, vihuelas, guitarrons and violins can be heard throughout San Antonio and indeed the Southwest. However, as a folk form, mariachi music has traveled across the world – even as far as King's Landing – and these players have all made it their own. Here's a list of some of the inventive things mariachis are doing with their music, from paying homage to Morrissey to shredding like Judas Priest.
First and foremost, although there's no nudity, flaying of children or ice zombies, this Mariachi version of the Game of Thrones theme is sure to put you south of the border, down Westeros way.
