Longtime San Antonio staple Mama’s Cafe has reopened after two years of renovations.
Homestyle eatery Mama’s Cafe reopened its doors Friday after two years of renovations, welcoming hundreds of diners over its first few days of operation.

Longtime chef Gabriel Ibarra, who helms the renovated eatery's galley, on Sunday shared a Facebook photo of an impressive stack of more 300 order tickets, along with the quip that “it’s a start..."


The restaurant's updated menu includes elevated versions of Mama’s classic fare. The Texas-sized chicken fried steak and fried mushrooms remain, joined by new items such as a classic patty melt and Crispy Chicken Macha, with Mexican chili oil, nopal, cabbage and queso fresco.

The restaurant’s Facebook page list operating hours as Wednesday through Sunday from 5-9 p.m.
