The singer-songwriter listen-to-how-sad-my-songs-are-while-I-cry song and dance have been a new-musician trope that has, frankly, worn out it’s welcome. However, there are the rare occasions when an artist rises from the over-saturated-frat-boy-with-a-guitar community that write and sing song that resonate with us on a deep and spiritual level. City and Colour is one of those artists.

Born Dallas Michael John Albert Green, The Canadian singer and musician was first known for his work in the post-hardcore group Alexisonfire which had already built a huge following. A slight step to the left from the aggressive angst of post-hardcore, City and Colour showcases Green’s warm vocal timbre that coats his folksy tracks that are slightly melancholic but rich enough to keep you cozy. Like being outside in the cold with a campfire and a blanket.
