That's right, Black's Barbecue of Lockhart, Texas is adding a sugary twist to its delicious sausages. Arguably the best place to get barbecue in Lockhart (fight me), the family-run establishment is revamping one of the cuisine's staples.
Barrett Black, son of owner and pitmaster Kent Black, told Thrillist that the sausage donut sandwich is his way of keeping true to the family's traditional recipes while also being creative with the menu. The restaurant, which has a second location in Austin, was first opened in 1932 by Barrett's great-grandfather Edgar, who passed away in June.
The sausage follows the 80-year-old family recipe, but is later slathered in maple syrup and caramelized with a blowtorch. The treat is only available during select times, so call ahead to make sure they'll be serving up this treat.
