First Baptist Church of Sutherland Springs' Pastor Frank Pomeroy announced earlier this week that the church would be demolished, and a San Antonio business owner is stepping up to rebuild the church's place of worship.

Brad Beldon, chief executive officer of Beldon, said on a GoFundMe account that he is raising money to give the First Baptist Church community a new home.

"We cannot erase the horrific memories but we can provide a place of worship, a place of hope, a place of healing, and a place of prayer for our fellow human beings," Beldon wrote.

The goal is to raise $2.5 million to build a new structure as well as a park at the "damaged" church's location in the victims' memory. A non-profit was created for the fund, registered with the state of Texas and all. At the time of publication, more than $50,000 has already been raised.

Anybody interested in donating to the fund can do so via the GoFundMe page.
