A Conference on the Tricentennial

In honor of San Antonio’s Tricentennial celebrations, the Witte hosts a two-day conference examining three centuries of local history. The conference kicks off on Friday with nine sessions (covering The Land of Water, First Residents of Béxar, Spanish Conquests, Early Family, San Antonio Missions, the Battle of Medina, Becoming Texans, Tejano Life, and the Alamo) and Blanca López de Mariscal and Paloma Vargas' luncheon presentation Newly Discovered Documents Written for San Antonio Mission Indians and Day to Day Life. The Saturday portion features sessions dedicated to Cattle Drives, Families, San Antonio Industry, Civil War, Food Traditions, Spanish Language Media, Music, Mexican Revolution, the World Wars, and Labor, plus a luncheon presentation Joe R. Straus, Speaker of the Texas House of Representatives.
