A Night with Janis Joplin

Whether your fond (albeit probably pleasantly fuzzy) memories of the 1960s compel you, or you are simply looking to get to know the music of one of the most powerful voices in the history of American song, A Night with Janis Joplin is a show to see. While the hit musical will do little to sate longtime fans looking for new insights into the life of the troubled icon, its presentation of Joplin’s timeless music, her singular, charismatic voice, and her relationship to the blues women who influenced her all make for a worthwhile experience. From a sheer music history standpoint, let alone as an evening of penetrating song, this musical is essential, celebrating the likes of Aretha Franklin, Etta James, Odetta, Nina Simone, Bessie Smith and others as it zeroes in on what made Joplin’s short career so special.

Sinya on Lone Man Creek in Wimberley
“Absolutely perfect weekend getaway! We were worried that it might be too hot inside the tent, as both my husband and I love our room cold, but it was perfect around 70 degrees…especially in the summer. Bed was very comfortable and you could just sink in and sleep. I slept so deeply. It is a beautiful, serene place to stay and I could not recommend it more!” - Yelper Larissa I
