A Place to Stand

Release Date: 2009-03-25

Written and directed by St. Philip’s College faculty member Vincent Hardy, A Place to Stand looks to be a proud achievement for both Hardy and St. Philip’s College as it returns for second run. The story of an African-American family struggling to survive in a contemporary American landscape is told through the conflicting world-views of the two main characters, Patrice and Jonathon. Jonathon believes in understanding history as a way to counter racism, while Patrice places her faith in capitalism. Not your typical musical. Original score by Jake Owen. Choreography by Georgina Morgan. 8pm Fri & Sat, 2:30pm Sun, Watson Fine Arts Center at St. Philip’s College, 1801 MLK Drive, (210) 531-3323
