A stone fixer-upper designed by the Alameda Theater's architect is on the market in San Antonio

This 1936 rock-exterior home a block from Jefferson High School has plenty to light up the eyes of someone willing to take the labor and reward of a major reno project.

First, it was designed by N. Straus Nayfach, the renowned architect responsible for plenty of stylish stone houses around the Alamo City, along with significant landmarks including the Alameda Theater and Temple Beth-El.

Second, the two-story home's got the kind of stylish design its location near San Antonio's Deco District would suggest — arched doorways, a distinctive plastered fireplace and sleek light fixtures. Sure, the kitchen's a gut job and plenty other spots around the house need serious TLC, but it's hard not to see the potential in the $399,000 house.

For what it's worth, the Current featured a slideshow of the same property back in June, but the agent says it's back on the market after a buyer decided a two-story home wasn't quite what they wanted. And that should make some local do-it-yourselfer very happy.

This home is listed by Joseph Chodash with JBGoodwin Realtors, San Antonio Division.
