Adam Ant returns with 'Cool Zombie' video

"I lived in Tennessee for a couple of years,” Adam Ant said in his latest press release. “My daughter, Lily Caitlin, was born there. I decided that I was going to be like a house husband, so I was with her and changing nappies. That's the hardest work I've ever done, the child-rearing thing. But as Lily got older, I started to think about music. I missed it — the creative process and the live side of it."

So he got back to work and the result is his first album in 17 years: Adam Ant is the Blueback Hussar in Marrying the Gunner's Daughter (yeah, catchy as hell).

The video for "Cool Zombie," the first single, was directed by Ant and Adam Ross, and (in tone with the album's autobiographical nature) talks about Ant's return to London after living in Tennessee.

Here's the cover for the new album:

The cover girl is Georgie Hobday, who appeared in two oil paintings by BP portrait-prize winner Mary Jane Ansell and also appears on the video of "Cool Zombie."

But of course, if you're under 40, chances are you don't know/care who the hell Adam Ant is. Now, if you lived through the '80s, the following video may bring some memories.

Adam Ant is the Blueback Hussar in Marrying the Gunner's Daughter was released January 22. A special double vinyl sleeve gatefold will be out February 4. Ant's band, "The Good, The Mad & The Lovely Posse," will be touring the UK in the Spring and a U.S. tour is in the works. Enrique Lopetegui
