Aesch Accordion Orchestra & Schlossbrunneli Yodeling Club

In something of a Swiss cultural takeover, ARTS San Antonio will present, all in one evening at Trinity, the Aesch Accordion Orchestra (AAO) and the Schlossbrunneli Yodeling club (SYC). A noteworthy event for Swiss cultural buffs, music history afi cionados and all who enjoy the nostalgic and meandering sounds of the accordion — which is at least as popular in Switzerland as it is in South Texas — this promises to be a truly one-of-a-kind show. These two historic organizations, the AAO formed in 1943 and the SYC in 1937, are like primary source documents that lead us deep into one culture’s experiments and traditions concerning the accordion and the odd/beautiful instrument that is the human voice. So let’s show our Swiss friends a warm welcome and open our hearts and minds to their music, which, as we all know, can be one of the most rewarding entry points into a culture.
