Alamo City Arts presents “HTxCB Children’s Concert 2023”

The Heart of Texas Concert Band begins 2023 with its Children’s Concert. In addition to charming works for both young and old, the program will feature guest composer/conductor, William Owens, conducting the world premiere of “Big Bend,” a suite of tone portraits of the national park written for solo bassoon and concert band. Audience members will enjoy a lighthearted introduction to symphonic band instruments based on Robert Jager’s “Variations on a Theme by Robert Schumann,” “Downbeat,” a tongue-in-cheek tale recounting how conductors came to use a baton, and “Over the Rainbow” from Harberg & Arlen’s score to The Wizard of Oz.
