  • Protesters take to the streets in Paris to express their anger over yesterday's terrorist attack on the offices of satirical newspaper Charles Hebdo.

Members of the San Antonio media will convene at the Alamo tonight at 6:30 p.m. to hold a demonstrate solidarity with Je Suis Charlie movement. The demonstrations are in response to this week's terrorist attack on the offices of Charlie Hebdo, a satirical weekly newspaper in Paris, France.

Three gunmen stormed the offices yesterday morning and killed 12 people, including the editor. The newspaper has published a number of satirical cartoons depicting the prophet Mohammad, and the media has speculated that the attack was motivated in response to those depictions.

The French phrase "je suis charlie," which translates to "I am Charlie," has been the primary slogan adopted by protesters who took to the street throughout France to demonstrate their anger over the act of terror.

Tonight's demonstration will include a moment of silence at 6:45 p.m., and anyone who wishes to do so may speak. The email announcing the demonstration said that tonight's gathering is not a political protest, rather a show of solidarity for yesterday's victims. Attendees are encouraged to bring candles, pens or signs.
