San Antonio welcomes a newcomer to its array of food chains: Wild Noodles brings a multi-cultural smorgasbord to the city with their variety of meals from Asia, Mexico, Italy, Thailand, Japan, and America. The first location will open in September at the Huebner Commons off I-10, 11703 Huebner. Owner Juan Bueno is planning on opening 12 Wild Noodles locations in the San Antonio area in the next five years. He says the second restaurant will be ready for business by March 2005. Wild Noodles offers vegetarian and low-carb options.

Pat O'Brien's is undergoing minor changes under the guidance of a new owner. Samuel Panchevre, proprietor of Club Rive and Sam's Burger Joint, is bringing live music to the patio Thursday through Saturday from 9 p.m.-2 a.m. The oyster piano bar will also have live music starting at 4 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday. Beginning August 29, Pat O'Brien's will host a weekly Sunday jazz brunch from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. The menu will be extended with lunch specials featuring its signature New Orleans taste. Daily operating hours have been extended from 11-2 a.m. seven days a week and happy hour is from 4-7 p.m. everyday.

Luau Jam

The Luau Jam will be held Sunday, August 29, 3-8pm at Aloha Kitchen, 1242 Austin Hwy. A buffet will be served from 4-6pm followed by dancing by the Hula Halau Ohana Elikapeka Entertainment Group with music by the Crazy Coconuts. $15 adults, $7.50 keiki (ages 5-12). Info: 822-9933.

It's Greek To Me

The Central Market Cooking School features Guest Chef Susanna Hoffman on Saturday, August 28, 6:30-9pm, at its location on Broadway and Patterson. Just in time for the summer games, anthropologist and cook Hoffman has created the ultimate guide to Greek cooking with her new book The Olive and the Caper: Adventures in Greek Cooking. She has lived and worked in Greece on and off for more than 30 years and has perfected the island's distinctive, bold cuisine. $60. Info: 368-8617.

Stomp In The Name of Love

During the Texas grape harvest season, underway in late summer and early fall, 16 wineries come together to showcase their vineyards during the 5th Annual Texas Hill Country Wine Trail. Each year, wine lovers can participate in grape stomps, barrel tastings, and sampling of vintage wines. The second weekend of the wine trail is Friday-Sunday, August 27-29.
