"Alma de Mujer" at the Guadalupe feat. Lidón Patiño

"Alma de Mujer," the flamenco show featuring the Guadalupe Dance Company and guest dancer Lidón Patiño, opened Friday at the Guadalupe Theater and continues Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 3 p.m. Tickets are $15-30 ($50 includes priority seating, tapas and sangría).

It was a magical show where Patiño's presence was the cherry on the pie, but far from the only attraction: the well-rehearsed local dancers held their own and the musical trio of SA's Chayito Champion on vocals (her fiery voice was the backbone of the show), Luisma Ramos (from Seville, on guitar) and Yiyi Orozco (from Barcelona, on cajón and vocals) were so solid that I wish they play together again (it was the first time Ramos and Orozco, both SA residents, performed together).
