Happiness, Sweet Sultan translates the subversive use of the language of flowers throughout history. Floriography developed in pre-revolutionary France, and captivated Victorian England and the United States as a secret language of coded emotion. Armed with illustrative floral dictionaries rooted in cultural symbolism, men and women exchanged bouquets of undertones and meanings. Amada Miller is a student of the Southwest School of Art’s legacy BFA class. She is the founder and director of Hello Studio. Miller has shown her work in galleries and museums around San Antonio such as The McNay Art Museum, Blue Star Contemporary Art Museum, FL!GHT Gallery, AnArte Gallery, Agora Gallery, R Space, The Kress Building, and Mayor Julian Castro’s office.
