Late San Antonio attorney Mark Jay Sideman and his wife Susan bought their 3,700-square-foot home north of Alamo Heights after attending a 1995 estate sale at the visually striking property.
Built in 1979, the home was designed by San Antonio artist and world traveller Nina Louise Payne, who was married to a member of the U.S. military. While sale attendees had picked the place over, even removing some of its fixtures and architectural details, Susan Sideman could tell it had good bones.
After her husband's death earlier this year, Sideman recently put the property on sale for $1 million.
The open and airy home shows off a quarter century of upgrades added by Sideman and her husband, from a modern kitchen to a lagoon-style pool. A network of patios featuring multiple gathering spots is spread through the back lot, and the couple's extensive art collection graces the interior walls.
