Jack's construction company Dabney Homes totally renovated the space, raising the vaulted ceilings, replacing the roof and adding concrete piers to the foundation. It also updated the HVAC, electrical and plumbing.
Decorative elements were provided by couple's retail store, Joyeux Home Decor, a barn in Olmos Park that specializes in furniture and goods that fit with a modern farmhouse aesthetic.
Dubbed "Wren Cottage," the newly renovated three-bedroom, two-bath home just went on the market with an asking price of just under $1.3 million. The couple's modern farmhouse aesthetic shines throughout the 2,070-square-foot residence.
Nowhere is that more apparent than the living room, with its marble fireplace and vaulted, shiplap ceilings. The nearby dining room also features shiplap, this time as a backdrop to its wet bar and wine fridge and also as muted gray wainscoting, which continues through the kitchen.
The kitchen is large with plenty of custom cabinetry, all built with a soft close mechanism. A dark soapstone backsplash and countertop also makes for an elegant focal point.
A bathroom shared by the guest rooms includes a busy but delicate Blackthorn wallpaper, a floral pattern dating back to the 1800s. This gorgeous bathroom also features honeycomb-patterned tile floor and more of the wainscoting, seemingly a leitmotif of the modern cottage.
In contrast to the busy, bold guest bathroom, the primary suite's is a muted gray, with an oversized walk-in shower and marble countertop with dual vanities. The primary suite also features a sitting room, a walk-in closet and glass doors that open onto the backyard.
Like any good cottage, the backyard has a quaint stone path through a landscaped garden. The walkway leads to a casita with its own bath.
