San Antonio, along with neighboring counties and cities, will be experiencing a winter storm beginning early Tuesday morning through Tuesday night, and the National Weather Service is urging people to avoid non-essential travel on Tuesday.

“It may be nice and warm now, but the cold front is currently in north Texas and heading south,” NWS Austin/San Antonio tweeted on Monday afternoon.

According to a Winter Storm Warning issued by NWS, locals should expect freezing rain and sleet coupled with temperatures in the 20s and 30s, which may create rough driving conditions and icy roads. Areas of San Antonio could experience a tenth of an inch accumulation of ice, and possibly (but don’t hold your breath) even some snow.

If you're planning to fly out of San Antonio on Tuesday, you may want to take a look at the airport's website first: So far, 20 flights from American, Delta and United Airlines that were scheduled to depart between 5:40 and 9:27 a.m. have been cancelled.

Although most San Antonio districts have not announced closures, KENS5 is keeping an updated list of school, roadway and business closures in the area.
