Art+Feminism Wikipedia Edit-a-Thon

Join SAMA + Artpace for a communal updating of Wikipedia entries on subjects related to gender, art, and feminism! In a 2011 survey, the Wikimedia Foundation found that fewer than 10% of its contributors were women. The reasons for this disparity is debatable, but the practical effect is not: content is skewed. SAMA and Artpace are here to change that by cohosting a series of Wikipedia Edit-a-Thons through Art+Feminism throughout 2020. Their first event will be held at SAMA and themed around the exhibition Texas Women: A New History of Abstract Art. The goal is to learn how to edit Wikipedia articles, create one for every artist in the exhibition, and add citations. Worried you don't have enough experience? No problem! SAMA will provide tutorials and reference materials. Participants must register for an account on Wikipedia prior to the event. Also please remember to bring your own laptop and power cord. This event is free and includes ample breaks for communing or touring the exhibition (with the cost of admission). SAMA will provide coffee, light snacks, and fruit.

Sinya on Lone Man Creek in Wimberley
“Absolutely perfect weekend getaway! We were worried that it might be too hot inside the tent, as both my husband and I love our room cold, but it was perfect around 70 degrees…especially in the summer. Bed was very comfortable and you could just sink in and sleep. I slept so deeply. It is a beautiful, serene place to stay and I could not recommend it more!” - Yelper Larissa I
